S1E3 & E4: Not That Yanni
This is the history and the stories of Sam, my former interpreter from Iraq. This episode will cover the rise of the Baathist Party in his childhood to the toppling of Saddam Hussein's statue in Baghdad in 2003 as a young adult, telling the experience of an Iraqi through the major events of that timeline.
We often did Humanitarian missions where we dropped off essential items to areas that really needed them. Sam was critical in making sure we could get the items out to the right people without a few people hoarding them all.
One of the best things about Sam is that he always kept us laughing, even better is that he always broke the tension with locals by making them laugh, too. This was very important because we couldn't do anything constructive without their help.
Here are Sam and Patrick O'Neal in front of Sam's food truck, Halal Time.
